Sorare Challenger Europe Scouting

The Challenger Europe Division on Sorare is an interesting one, as the league is stacked full of promising talent from across the globe. What’s even more exciting, is that new clubs continually join the platform so the pool continues to grow. For example, we’ve recently seen the Scottish Premiership join the platform, which has included the incredibly high scoring Celtic.

At this point, it’s worth quickly pointing out the Eligible Leagues for Challenger Europe.

Which Leagues are eligible to play in Challenger Europe?

The covered leagues as of June 2022 are; Portuguese Liga, Russian Premier League, Eredivisie, Belgium Pro League, Scottish Premiership, Turkish SuperLig, Danish Superliga & English Championship.

If your player card currently plays in this league, you will be able to deploy them in this division. However, and for example, if Charles De Ketelaere moved to Bayern Munich, he would no longer be eligible for Challenger Europe. Even though he will remain in a Club Brugge kit on his card, he would now be classified as a Champion Europe card.

This helps to keep things really exciting during transfer windows, in addition to making sure players are only eligible if they’re currently in that league.

Now we’ve cleared that up, let’s take a look at some options on Sorare. Let’s start off with the Goalkeepers, and I’ve got a few options here for you! (Note: I’ll be avoiding any player over the age of 30, as we want to get as much utility out of these players as possible).

Sorare Challenger Europe Goalkeepers

A Consistent High Scoring Option: Diogo Costa

I really wanted to choose another goalkeeper for this position, but I have to include the best goalkeeper for this slot. It wouldn’t be fair to recommend anyone else, when you’re looking for a Goalkeeper to slot right in.

Diogo Costa Sorare
A breakdown of Diogo Costa’s Performance record on Sorare

There are a few benefits to signing Diogo Costa, as he still has utility for Under 23’s. I haven’t signed him yet, but he’s definitely on my shortlist. Playing in a dominant Porto side, managers would probably prefer he signed up at this club for the rest of his career. One slight issue is a potential transfer in the future. De Gea, Alisson, Neuer and Courtois aren’t getting any younger and Costa looks like he would fit right in as a replacement for any of the above.

You would hope that he could maintain consistent high scores if he replaced any of the above, but it’s never a guaranteed.

He’s not a cheap option though, in fact he’s the most expensive player in this division. This is part of the reason I didn’t want to choose him. I’ve also decided to add some alternative options below, which will suit more budgets:

  • Bart Verbruggen – Not currently a starter for RSC Anderlecht, but plenty of upside if he starts to get some gametime.
  • Phillip Kohn – Rested more towards the end of the season, but looked very promising when he played. He plays in a dominant Red Bull Salzburg team and scores high, often!
  • Odysseas – #1 Goalkeeper for Benfica. A dominant side, where he has scored average over 50 in L40 and has played 95% of the games. These are great stats.
  • Tobe Leysen – with Vandevoordt confirmed as sold, could KRC Genk look towards training up their #2 goalkeeper? This is a slightly riskier one, but it does seem to make sense!

Sorare Challenger Europe Defenders

Consistent Scoring Cental Defender: Cameron Carter-Vickers

From the moment that Celtic joined the Sorare platform, managers will have known the power that their players would possess. CCV is the perfect example of this, with a Last 40 average score of 65. Only Timber, Douglas Santos & Ferro can compete within the Last 40, but I’m more excited in Cameron due to the fact he’s in a super-dominant Celtic side.

Celtic have just confirmed the signing of CCV, after a successful loan. This is really good for managers, as it means that he won’t be transferring anywhere else for at least 18 months. He’s on a long term contract, so it could be even longer.

It’s my plan to add him to my gallery during the 2022 Summer break, as I am restructuring myself.

There are actually quite a few players I like in the defensive position, so I’ve also listed those down below:

  • Josip Sutalo
  • Goncalo Inacio
  • Alex Grimaldo
  • Oumar Solet
  • Sergio Gomez

Sorare Challenger Europe Midfielders

Midfield Powerhouse – Orkun Kökçü

If you’ve got the budget which can accomodate him, Kokcu is one of the elite players you can add to your gallery. He’s been an absolute unit for Feyenoord in 2021/22, and even if he only maintains this form, he will win you reward after reward. He will also be eligible in the U23’s until July 2025.

Orkun Kokcu Detailed Sorare Performance Stats

As you can see from the above, he’s a consistent performer. With an average of 66 in his last 40 games, this makes him one of the best buys on the platform, not just the Challenger Europe division.

There are no transfer rumours at all (at present), so there’s no reason why he shouldn’t keep this form up, unless Feyenoord under-perform.

He’s not a cheap purchase though, he’s one of the more expensive midfielders on the platform. Just like above, I’ll show you some other options that you can also consider:

  • Fabio Vieira – Hit a solid run of form for Porto in 2021/22. I’d rather he stay at Porto, but he’s receiving his fair share of interest from other clubs.
  • Hans Vanaken – Although time isn’t on his side, Vanaken still has 2-3 years left at the top of his game.
  • Arda Guler – Although it’s a bit of a long term call, Arda is already being scouted by the top clubs. At just 17, he’s one to watch. His scores have been impressive, but due he’s not a first-team player just yet.
  • Nicolas Seiwald – A consistent performer for RB Salzburg, Nicolas will be in many managers stacks for years to come.

Sorare Challenger Europe Forwards

Benjamin Sesko – His time is now

My prime pick for the Challenger Europe Division is actually quite the risk. However, it’s well educated and should work itself out.

Erling Haaland started the transfer merry-go-round pretty early with a move to Man City, which led Dortmund to sign Adeyemi. This plays into the hands of Sesko, as he will be the next in command for RB Salzburg.

This should give him increased game-time, plus I’m hoping an increased output too. If you look at his current stats, he’s not quite got the ‘Sorare Factor’ just yet, but he’s shown promise with 9 peformance scores above 60.

Sesko Challenger Europe
Benjamin Sesko – Will he be the main man for RB Salzburg?

I will be actively checking RB Salzburg transfer activity, as I’m keen that they don’t replace Sesko with a more experienced forward. However, that’s not their way of doing things, they’re active player development specialists.

It’s been quite difficult to list some other forwards from the Challenger Divisions, as there’s quite a lot of transfer activity already. Players such as Darwin Nunez, Adeyemi have already moved on with Antony, Brobbey and Jesper Karlsson receiving heightened speculation about their future. With that being said, I have to mention the following:

  • Jota – He’s more or less permanently signed for Celtic, accidentally confirmed by the player but not the club. He will be a great forward to utilise, but he’s not cheap.
  • Junya Ito – Forward for Genk, who scores well regularly. L40 average of 62 speaks volumes.
  • Luis Sinisterra – 22 year old for Feyenoord. L40 average of 63, playing in 88% of the previous games. Another consistent performer.

Conclusion

That brings this round of scouting to a conclusion. I will be completing other articles/videos, showing true budget picks and even future star picks. For now, I think it was the right thing to start off with some of the best options in the division. This should help you to finish off your gallery and put you in position to compete more regularly.

If you think I’ve missed any players that will add significant value to this thread, feel free to comment below & I’ll consider adding them! Oh and many thanks to SorareData for their continued valuable statistics, making these articles possible.
